Awan Educational Academy, Lucknow, India

Session on Faculty Development Program (FDP)

Awan Educational Academy, Lucknow, India is a new setup dedicated to imparting education to kids in the outskirts of the city. Some of these kids usually come from rural backgrounds and have almost nil educational support from their homes.

Although the infrastructure has been built to international standards, the academy has still a long way to go to come into the premium brackets.

Neena Dayal was invited to conduct Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) for the faculty members of this institution.

Neena gracefully accepts such assignments under her Individual Social Responsibility (ISR). It gives her immense pleasure to touch base with young people who have willingly chosen teaching as a career.

While interacting with faculty members of such educational institutions Neena makes sure that they become aware of the responsibilities that lie ahead of them. Neena believes that since teaching is a profession, which involves molding young minds, the teachers need to be willing to constantly upgrade themselves to face the challenges of the profession head-on.

Now, this is easier said than done because the faculty members of such educational institutions are themselves quite young. Unfortunately, a school educator’s job is also not a very high paying one. This means that the young faculty members also require tremendous motivation to remain in the profession of teaching.

And with the changing educational environments, unforeseen situations emerging in a new setup, and the constant challenges that are always cropping up in the field of education, the Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) here had to be more of motivational in nature, covering several deep aspects of Mental Resilience. This coupled with the situation of kids coming from the rural backgrounds, the Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) at Awan Educational Academy had to be modulated on the spot to cover the questions asked by the faculty members.

Neena could rise to these challenges easily as she naturally connects very well with people from different walks of life. Her programs were very well attended and faculty members could relate with her as a person, and with her materials wonderfully.
