National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR)

Session on branding and Promotion

National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) is India’s premier research and development institution. The organization is dedicated to leading the country’s research initiatives in the Polar and Southern Ocean regions.

Neena Dayal had the privilege and honour of working on several films for National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), back when it was known as National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR).

These films were mainly for educational purposes for creating awareness about the Antarctica programs run by the institution.

One of these films was a corporate film, covering all the details and facilities of the organization. These were distributed to other research and development institutions in India as well as abroad.

Another film was documentary styled, it focused on theresearch expeditions to Antarctica, and India’s past and present research stations there.

The third was a compilation of a multimedia styled database covering the details of all the Indian expeditions to Antarctica. This was one of the first ever databases of its kind built on the multimedia platform. It was quite a unique interface back in 2005-6.

All of these works were also distributed to educational institutions in India in order to create awareness about the research and development activities conducted by India. This was also instrumental in making the young students aware of the job opportunities available in the fields of scientific research in the country.

Neena fondly remembers her phenomenal experiences in the various laboratories of the institute. The best ones being in the Ice-core Labs, where the actual specimens of ice are stored, which are brought from Antarctica.

She also cherishes the various associations developed with the scientists and staff members at the institute, some of which are still continuing.

A couple of these relationships with the scientists later blossomed in an unrelated field, as they joined Neena as her Coaching Clients. This confirmed a very important aspect of coaching, that clients turn towards those coaches, with whom they can relate well in a multi-dimensional manner.
