Mental Resilience to Find and Fulfil the Purpose of Your Life

purpose of life

There are numerous discussions on how you can find and fulfill the purpose of your life.

I have seen that many times the purpose of your life and the purpose of your business are often the same.

I have also seen that most of the discussions about the life purpose lead to philosophical debates and don’t evolve into an action-oriented approach.

Let’s Start with Understanding what Purpose of Life Really is:

1) Your Purpose is Not a Mystical Thing:

The purpose of your existence as well as that of your business is a concrete thing. It is not something mystical and occult.

No matter what you do, whether you are an entrepreneur, executive, politician, student, housewife or anyone else, your purpose is a solid reality.

So keep thinking of your purpose as a task that you have to accomplish in this lifetime.

Don’t get into philosophical discussions about it as those will not take you forward on your life path.

2) Your Purpose is Your Real Road Map for Existence:

The purpose of your existence is actually your road map.

If you know your purpose, you will automatically know what will take you forward on this path. Or, you will keep searching for stuff that will take you forward on this path.

But how will this work if people don’t really know their purpose?

So, is this a chicken and egg story? Certainly not!

Keep reading and the air will get clearer.

3) Your Purpose is Not a Destination but a Guiding Force:

Many people think that purpose is something they are getting led to. For them, it is like something, which is far ahead into their future, and if they keep following the right path, they will somehow be led to finding their purpose one day.

I have observed that this is not correct.

The purpose of your existence is a guiding force, which will be apparent in everything you do, even little things. You either live your purpose every day, or you don’t.

But, in order to live your purpose, you will first have to discover it, isn’t it? Again, no is the answer.

Now, you may think, where am I leading with this? Actually, it is very simple.

The finding and fulfilling your purpose are not two separate activities. They go hand in hand. It is a little like a chicken and egg story but becomes clearer once you give it a serious thought.

When will you fulfill your purpose if you spend your life in only finding it? Think about it.

So, both – finding your purpose and fulfilling it have to go hand in hand.

4) Your Purpose is Action-Oriented:

Your purpose is thoroughly action-oriented. It opens up every moment you take action.

Even if the action steps may still not be very clear to you, remember, your serving the values that you feel closely attached to, will lead towards your getting better clarity about the purpose.

So, keep at it. This is the action mantra for finding and fulfilling your purpose.

This does not mean frenzied and frantic action but a calm, collected and confident approach to actions that feel intuitively right to you.

These actions will make you move forward. Remember, you may not be right every time, but wrong decisions will also teach you a lot, if you are open to learning.

Now Let’s See the Action Steps on Your Journey of Finding and Fulfilling your Life Purpose:

a) Get the realization of the truth that you do have a purpose:

Realization cannot be created by any outside force. It dwells in you. You have to give birth to it.

This comes in the form of restlessness, which often leads to feelings of emptiness.

This is a call to action for moving forward with the search of your purpose.

b) Understand the values with which you live your day to day life:

These are not just plain moral values but the ones you are actually implementing and living by. Make a list of values that you live by, implementing them in your day-to-day life.

c) Understand that your implemented values will lead to finding your purpose:

The values you philosophize but do not live by are not going to shine the pathway for you.

What you do is what you get back in your life, not what you profess to others.

So, the values you implement are the only values that really matter.

d) Understand that finding your purpose, living it, and fulfilling it are the same things:

The journey of finding and fulfilling your purpose is not a quest but the journey itself is the destination. So, move forward and embrace it with confidence.

Understand that each day you live with great values; each action you take with great confidence will unfold your purpose to you.

Then one day, the mist lifts magically. You will then become fully and consciously aware of your purpose.

Interestingly, I have found that all of the above is true for your business also.

How you bring your company’s Mission Statement into a reality on a day-to-day basis is the way to finding and fulfilling your business purpose.

What you profess in your Mission Statement may be different from how you actually do it.

Remember, your reputation is built on how you conduct your business and not on how fancy your Mission Statement looks.

All of the above require tremendous Mental Resilience on your part as the rest of the business and personal world may be telling you that your values will never work.

Still, if you continue on your chosen path you can rest assured of coming out a winner.

Conclusion:

The above may still seem like a chicken and egg story to a few. The understanding of it all will depend upon your present level of awareness.

So, if it feels like a chicken and egg story, and you want to change this, raise your awareness.

Monitor your thoughts. Monitor your actions. Monitor your progress.

I can guarantee that everything written on this blog post will lead to your finding and fulfilling your life purpose.

If you just remain hopeful, implement it consistently, and cultivate the Mental Resilience to stick with it, you will succeed.
